About World Productions
Award winning drama since 1990.
Founded in 1990, World Productions has produced over 300 hours of critically-acclaimed, award-winning drama for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, HBO, Netflix, Amazon Studios & Sky. CEO & Creative Director Simon Heath, who joined in 1997, has led the company since 2006. World has offices in London, Glasgow & Cardiff.
Over the last decade, World has blazed a trail of gripping, talk-about, contemporary TV that combines human stories with high stakes drama and genuine authenticity. 2019 saw Save Me and Bodyguard both nominated for BAFTA’s best drama series. This was in addition to the 2019 Golden Globe and Emmy Nominations for Bodyguard, the RTS Award for Best Drama Series for Save Me, and the Broadcast and Edinburgh Television Festival Awards for Best Independent Production Company.
In 2018, Bodyguard was the most-watched UK TV drama since modern ratings began, with 17 million people tuning in to watch the season finale. This was in turn beaten by the finale of the sixth season of Line of Duty which became the most watched TV drama of the century.
The beginning of 2021 saw The Pembrokeshire Murders achieve ITV’s biggest audience for a new drama since 2006, and the highest rated ITV drama of the year. Later in 2021 Episode One of Vigil on BBCONE drew in the most viewers since Bodyguard with 13.4 million viewers. Save Me Too was Sky’s most downloaded show during 2020’s lockdown and recently won the BAFTA for Best Drama Series. In February 2022, World won the Broadcast Award for Best Independent Production Company for a second time, and was deemed 'a bona fide hit factory' and 'an indie firmly in tune with the tastes of British viewers' by the judges.
