Born in Singapore, Morag grew up on the east coast
of Scotland. She studied sculpture then Film and TV
before turning her hand to directing.
In 1998, she made 'Home', a short film for the Short
and Curlies strand for Channel 4. The film was recieved
well and went on to win a BAFTA and 15 international
awards.
"I became a director by accident, in the sense
that I didn't really believe that I could end up being
one, but after my first experience directing I was
hooked and couldn't stop wanting to do it."
She directed commercials for Saatchi and Saatchi,
and promos as well as four short films. She lives
in hope that one day she and writer Colin McLaren
will get to make a feature film together.
Buried is Morag's World Productions
debut. "If I'm honest I didn't think I would
get [Buried] as thee were far more experienced people
going for the job than me."
"I had a particular
passion for the script that I had been given to read
as I thought it was tremendously well-written, having
subleties and an intensity that gave it a unique and
very human perspective.
'To me the programmes have
a political significance which I am very proud to
be a part of."
