Buried 10.30pm, Channel 4
This new eight-part drama from the team behind The Cops centres on the staff and inmates of HMP Mandrake. Lennie James plays new inmate Lee Kingley, who has been sentenced to 10 years for GBH and a firearms offence. When his appeal is turned down, he manifests his anger by getting ejected from the drugs-free unit and transferred to the main prison. The script, performances and sense of ever-present brutality are believable - it's hard to recall a drama which has so convincingly evoked prison life.
