The disintegration of Ambrose and Niamh's marriage ultimately leads to heartbreak and a fallen hero. She finds it hard to come to terms with the circumstances and leaves the town for a while.
When the sale of Fitzgerald's falls through, the pub is inadvertently rented to one of Brian's old adversaries - Paul Dooley - and his wife Oonagh.
Sean considers his future in Ballykissangel and Emma has decisions to make too. She is torn between staying with Danny or going to art college in London. Meanwhile, Brendan is delighted to apply for the job of Headmaster at the local school.
After some time away, Niamh realises she can't run away from her feelings for Sean and she finally accepts his proposal.
