LOVE'S LABOURS
Fr Aidan is saying Mass, when Mairead turns up to receive communion.
The next day she asks him to help her practice a song for a school event. Kathleen shows up and Fr Aidan asks her to assist them - Mairead is not too keen on Kathleen's presence.
Niamh and Sean are in the Village, shopping for rings, when they bump into Liam and Donal, - reluctantly they tell them that, they are getting married and make them promise to keep it to themselves.
Knowing that it won't be long before Liam & Donal spill the beans, they decide that they must tell Quigley and Emma as soon as possible.
Meanwhile at St Joseph's, Fr Aidan, demonstrates breathing techniques with Mairead and Kathleen notices young Mairead's affections. She decides to end the practice by saying she has to leave and hints to Aidan that Mairead is a lonely young lady. Fr Aidan naively misunderstands and rushes off to invite her to the raft race.
Quigley is delighted with the news of Niamh and Sean's engagement and brings out some Champagne.
Meanwhile Mairead has forged her mother's signature on the consent form for the raft race and turns up just as it begins, she is paired off with Fr. Aidan. During the race Mairead falls into the river and can't swim; Fr Aidan has to rescue her.
Back on the riverbank she thanks him and kisses him, both are embarrassed but Fr Aidan tells her to forget it. When they meet up with the others, Mairead runs off she is upset, Frankie goes after her and takes her home.
In the meantime Fr. Aidan has confides in Orla who is greatly amused, but tries to console him, he is clearly distressed by the incident.
Later Mairead explains to Frankie what has happened - and all is forgotten
