This Life is dead... long live This Life!

In an email response, Mark Thompson, Controller of BBC 2 said "I'm naturally disappointed that This lIfe isn't coming back. Like the rest of the programme's fans, I'm going to miss it. But the series simply couldn't be furthered. That is why after careful thought Tony Garnett decided to call it a day."

Tony Garnett, executive producer of This Life and head of World Productions (see here) later added: "At the end of the last series the whole house was advertised for rent. Although Mark Ravenhill did some excellent work towards a possible third series, in the end I decided it was time to move on. We are now developing other shows for the BBC. After 32 episodes of This Life, I want to do other things".

There is no news when the 2nd series will be out on video, however, as stated elsewhere both series two is now being repeated on UK Gold.
