"There's never been a late
night continuing serial on BBC2, so this should provide
some off-beat entertainment before the rigours of Newsnight!"
says executive producer Tony Garnett, whose many distinguished
TV credits include Cathy Come Home, Cardiac Arrest, Between
the Lines and Ballykissangel.
Having been asked to create
a drama series for BBC2 about the way people in their 20s
experience the world, Tony's next step was to find the right
writer.
"It had to be someone who
knew what they were talking about and could report from
the front, not behind the lines - Amy Jenkins proved to
be just that person. Her sample scripts had tremendous wit
and energy and when she came in to talk, it was obvious
we had found our expert."
Tony Garnett particularly
enjoyed working with the very young cast and production
team. "Virtually everyone was in their twenties except me
- it was exciting to work with people who have a lot of
talent but little experience."
"I hope people will see it
as a diverting comedy about a group of people who are experiencing
the world for the first time."
