Richard Zajdlic, graduated
in English Literature at Southampton University. Founder-member
of Ratskins Theatre Company working as writer, actor, director.
Plays include Cock & Bull
Story (with Richard Crowe), published by Methuen, which
has received productions world-wide and for which he was
nominated 'Best Playwright' by the Los Angeles Drama Critics
Circle 1993.
His first solo play Infidelities
was winner of the 1990 West London Playwriting Competition
and was published by Nick Hern Books. He was nominated Best
Playwright for the Charrington Fringe Awards and became
winner of T.A.P.S Writer of the Year Award 93/94'. Infidelities
has twice been adapted for radio and broadcast overseas.
His play Rage, commissioned
and produced by the Bush Theatre in 1994 was subsequently
produced in New York. The Bush then commissioned and produced
a second play Dogs Barking which premiered in May 1999 and
has been published by Faber & Faber. Further productions
of Dogs Barking are being planned in Madrid, Boston and
Sydney.
He has written nine episodes
of the BBC soap EastEnders and one episode of the LWT drama
London's Burning.
He wrote two episodes (ep's
4 & 5) in the first series of This Life. He then became
Head Writer for the second series, responsible for story-lining
the series as well as writing the opening and closing set
of episodes (ep's 1 & 2, 20 & 21).
