Jason Hughes isn't gay - but he is Welsh. 'My own upbringing in Porthcawl was very happy', he says, 'but I can see how someone like Warren would feel trapped and lost in the social environment he grew up in. To be gay in a small Welsh town would be a nightmare.'

Jason trained at LAMDA, where he won the Alec Clunes Award for Best Actor. He has worked in radio and theatre and in Peak Practice, London's Burning and The Bill.

He used to share a house in London so is familiar with all the pitfalls encountered in This Life.

He doesn't like yoghurt.
