Andrew
Lincoln found Egg a fascinating character to play
'because he goes on a massive journey of self-discovery.
Basically he's a laid-back, philosophical sort of
chap with a passion for football - especially Manchester
United. But he loses his way and is gripped by debilitating
self-doubts. He's knocked sideways by something he
just can't deal with.' Andrew goes on to say that
Egg exemplifies 'what really binds our generation
- friendship.' So not such a plonker after all.
Born
in London, Andrew grew up in Hull and Bath, and originally
intended to be a vet. Then, Egg-like, he was 'completely
corrupted' by a season with the National Youth Theatre
and, after leaving school, studied at RADA. Since
then he has appeared in three films, including Boston
KickOut. He will soon be back on the screen in the
BBC's The Woman in White, playing Walter Harkwright
'a sort of love-interest thingy.'
