PROFILE

Level headed, generous - the unofficial ‘mother’ of the house. But it would be a mistake to think of her as just ‘nice’. Beneath her calm and reassuring front is a wry sense of humour and a steely resolve.

She’s the last woman you’d expect to be moonlighting as an escort.

Nursing is the only job she ever wanted. She’s the nearest thing to the nurse in the adverts – attractive, hard working and proud of what she does.

Her childhood was nomadic. Her father was an army doctor, and most of Kate’s early life was spent shifting between army bases – Dubai, Germany, the Netherlands. It was difficult for her to form friendships, and the only children she knew were other army brats, all as rootless as she was.

Her family finally settled down near Leeds when her father retired, and after finishing her exams, she started training as a nurse. Having already traipsed half way across the globe, she was happy to stay put in Leeds for her first job.

She met Andy, a junior doctor, during her first posting. Kate invested huge amounts of time and energy into helping Andy through his junior years, regardless of how tired and pressured she felt. They got engaged, bought a house together - it looked as though the fairy tale was complete.

But the closer they got to the wedding, the uneasier Andy became. Kate tried to reassure him (‘it’s pre-wedding jitters’) but suddenly Andy was talking about postponing. With weeks to go, Kate discovered Andy had been easing his nerves by screwing everything in sight. Kate was devastated. Andy tried to charm his way back, but she was too sick and furious to forgive.

Kate will never let herself be hurt again...
