'I've got all the basic power tools. You know, circular saw,
drill. But my main ambition is to build. I've got a shed -I
call it me work shop right. But I'm thinking I want to extend
it. Then I'd put an advert in the papers and make things for
people.'

Commentary:
'PC Colin Jellico is one of the longest serving officers on
his scale. Though he's been in the job since 1989, law enforcement
is not his greatest interest.'
Colin interview:

'I love working with wood. Wood is my thing. I love wood. Wood
is great. My other interests are, obviously I like to have a
drink in the pub. I'm a real ale man. And pub quizzes. I'm in
a team at my local pub. But the DIY is the main thing. If I
ever left the force I'd go into building.'

'Colin's is evidently a man of many other passions, so how was
it that he came to join up?'
Colin interview:

'My dad were a policemen. My granddad were a policeman. So obviously
I just thought I'd join the police, you know? I work to live…
If I didn't have those other interest I wouldn't really last
in the job I don't think.'

'I was married… I think I drove her away when I joined the Force.
She said I were a bit more aggressive than I used to be. But
I consider myself to be a calm man.
'I used to want to right all the wrongs in the world when I
joined. But now it's just a job. I think it was just the years
of how people treat you when you're in uniform. It gets you
down a bit…(sub) So now I don't look for any fights at all…
(sub) I put on my uniform, do my shift and go home.'

Commentary:
'So does Colin's command of general knowledge quiz facts extend
to the Constabulary?'
Colin interview:
Timecode: 01:17:11
'What do I know about the police? Well, the suicide rate in
the police is very high. There's only dentists that have a higher
suicide rate than the police. Now whether that's because they're
looking down someone's throat all day I don't know. But builders
are way down. They have a fantastic life.'
