Had this man followed his original career path you could have been wearing a David Wilson creation rather than watching one. Ballykissangel's Glasgow born Production Designer began his career working as Design Assistant at a Couture house. "I studied textile design at Glasgow Art School, then I studied at art colleges in Stockholm and Manchester where I had scholarships." David now lives in Ireland near to the studios where Ballykissangel is made. "I came over to Ireland for part of my scholarship. I was supposed to do a bit of study and a bit of travel, but when I finished the project I thought, "Yeah, this is good!.. and I never went back." Fortunately he has been pretty much inundated with work. "My big break was way back, it was when I got a job doing something called The Prize for Channel Four. I did quite a lot of features after that." In rare breaks from filming David paints and teaches in a local college, but the production schedule is intense. "It's always hectic, but it's the pressure that gives you the buzz... that's what gets you going!" David can't resist it when someone throws down the gauntlet. "After a bad job you always think 'I'll never do it again', but when a producer phones and says 'David, we've got a problem...' I just think 'OK, let's go!'"
