Hi Janine!
Taming of the Shrew was on here at 8.30pm on ABC pay tv (cable) and probably 30 minutes or so earlier on the usual ABC channel. This is in Australia -- only Queensland does not have Daylight Saving like other Southern States. I noticed that it is now available on DVD here, along with the other adaptions in the series.

Stephen was born in 1965. Ballyk series one was 1996. That made him about 31 when it was first shown.

Thanks. Sorry --I didn't say that very clearly -- I meant how old would have been beein in this photo from Oktober -- but, yes, he would have been in his early 30's for series 1 BKA. We are both "Oktober" 15 birthdays (I like to think that is a tad special !! Sarah Ferguson also is an October 15-ite.

Oktober was filmed in 1998 so he wasn't much older than when he was in season one of Ballyk.

It's nice to have a birthday on the same day as someone you so admire. Same year?

My PBS station is running the "Rosemary and Thyme" mystery series and last night the new Jane Eyre. I taped both of these and will view them later tonight.

I watched the new Jane Eyre today. It was good but I think the actor playing Rochester is too young and handsome in the role for my taste. I much prefer the much earlier Jane Eyre with George C. Scott as Mr. Rochester.

FYI--Article in the Washington Post this AM-Our PBS was cancelling" Eastenders " due to lack of funds. The BBC was raising rates etc.Well some diehard fans in Maryland got together and had a drive across the country for money. --Needed $50,000 and raised $52,000. Pbs will now extend the show for 2 more years. If we only knew!!!

Good News, Eastenders is part of my saturday morning wakeup ritual, at least when I am home on a saturday morning
I think I am hooked. I dont know exactly how many seasons we are behind here, but when I saw a bit of Eastenders in Ireland 2 years ago the series seemed to be years and years ahead. It is also funny I cannot find it on DVD. It would make a great present for my better half.
thanks for the info

BBC Canada broacasts East Enders but it is at least 1 year behind. Last week the lady in the cafe was trying to get a piece of toast out of the toaster with a knife (before unplugging it) and got a charge of 220 volts. She passed out but didn't was alright except for a burn.

Eastenders is a soap opera, broadcast four (I think, I don't watch it much myself) times a week, every week of the year. None of the main British soaps are released on DVD, except for occasional compilation DVDs of 'best bits', so I don't think you'll ever find it Ted. Eastenders has been on all year round for over twenty years. Coronation St (e/e's main rival) has been on for nearly 50 years. That would be an awful lot of DVDs!!

I'm a sucker for velvet! The only thing I like about cold weather is my winter wardrobe. Hubby has a black velvet edwardian style coat that he looks very sexy in.

goldarnit.

sweet amy leigh (remember her? she used to post here) has posted on YouTube the scene from "the reckoning" where peter calls assumpta with his decision. dont even ask me how i happened to be trolling YouTube for bally scenes. don't even ask. i won't tell you.

i haven't watched any BallyK since last january. it's been a year. (this is why i keep flunking maeve's quizzes.)

but now, having seen that scene again, and with the Norwegian gone until monday, and with a whole stack of DVDs at my disposal...... let's put it this way: i won't get a lot of reading done the rest of this weekend, i think.
